EMDHR Message of Condolences on the Passing of Patriarch Antonios
The Eritrean Movement for Democracy and Human Rights (EMDHR) expresses its heartfelt message of condolences on the passing of the 3rd Patriarch of Eritrean Orthodox Church – His Holiness Bishop Antonios. Death is part and parcel of our human nature. The only reason why the passing of his holiness makes it more bitter is the hardships and the 16 years of house arrest that he had to endure for merely defending his church.
As the holy book says, the good shepherd lays his life for his sheep. Bishop Antonios is a true model of a good shepherd. He remained true to his calling until his last breath.
It is expected for every Eritrean to feel the enormous sadness on his passing. Yet, Eritreans should take heart and consolation of his life that reflected faithful and true love. He is an example of a biggest love that lays his life for others not only to Eritreans but also to the entire world. Every Eritrean should be proud and raise his head up high for his exemplar courage and love.
The EMDHR expresses its condolence especially to Bishop Antonios’s close relatives and friends, and also to the followers of the Orthodox Church and the Eritrean people. May the Almighty God rest Bishop Antonios’s soul in eternal peace.
Condolences!
